Training Center for Educators

International educator training center utilizing teaching and learning methods of L. Ron Hubbard opens. Program provides the step missing in general education—a technology of learning how to learn.

On July 26th, actors Tom Cruise, Jenna Elfman, Anne Archer and Isaac Hayes joined U.S. Congressman Lacey Clay of Missouri’s 1st District and CEO Applied Scholastics® International Bennetta Slaughter to cut the grand opening ribbon for the new international headquarters and campus of Applied Scholastics® International in the St. Louis community of Spanish Lake.

Applied Scholastics® is an international education organization that licenses private schools, community literacy centers and tutors utilizing the teaching and learning methods of L. Ron Hubbard called Study Technology.
Delivering the keynote speech Tom Cruise said, “Study Technology® works. It can help anyone, anywhere, and turn your life around. I use it everyday.”
Applied Scholastics® CEO Slaughter said that the missing step in education is teaching students how to learn; knowing that, they can learn any subject.

With high school drop-out rates ranging from 25% to 45% internationally and averaging 10% in the United States, tens of millions of Americans are functionally illiterate, unable to compete in the workplace and only partially capable of leading productive lives. According to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, there are an estimated 862 million illiterate adults worldwide.
At the new campus, a fully-restored historic landmark, Applied Scholastics® has begun training teachers, corporate trainers, mentors, tutors and education consultants—supplementary to their existing education—with Mr. Hubbard’s breakthrough system for learning any subject. These services include workshops and courses from educational basics all the way to advanced teaching strategies and methodologies, and several of the courses offer continuing education or postgraduate credits.

Mr. Hubbard developed Study Technology® in the 1960s when he saw that declining educational standards were profoundly affecting the learning abilities of people he was attempting to instruct. His research regarding the basic laws of education led to a revolutionary development in the field—a technology of study. As educators throughout the world learned of Mr. Hubbard’s breakthroughs, they began to utilize them in their own work, thus forming the roots of what is now Applied Scholastics®.
In a recent interview with People magazine, Tom Cruise related his personal experience in using Mr. Hubbard’s Study Technology to overcome his inability to learn. Academy Award nominee Anne Archer has been an outspoken proponent over the past decade after raising her two children with the Study Technology®. Isaac Hayes has opened schools and literacy centers in American inner cities and in Africa.

Mr. Hubbard’s advanced technology of study is now used by an estimated 3 million students and thousands of teachers in universities and school systems internationally.
