CRIMINON INDONESIA

Indonesia has 365 prisons and after reviewing the success of the Criminon program in 6 of these, the Ministry of Justice has requested Criminon Indonesia’s cooperation in devising a roll out plan that will eventually bring the program to all of its prisons.

Indonesian Officials in Los Angeles for Briefings and Tours

Officials from Indonesia's Ministry of Justice and Human Rights are currently in Los Angeles for meetings, tours and coordination for executing their intention to fully implement the Criminon program into all 375 prisons of Indonesia. Originally established in New Zealand in 1972, Criminon provides the worlds most effective rehabilitation program through its drug education, life skills and self-study courses and utilizes The Way to Happiness book in the program.

Impressive Results Already Achieved in the First Indonesian Program

There have been 650 Indonesian inmates who have previously gone through the Criminon program.
More than 200 Criminon Graduates have been released from prison and only 3 have returned to prison
so recidivism is less than 2% This is particularly remarkable when compared to a United States Justice Department study of 15 states that shows that two-thirds of released prisoners were re-arrested within three years. [Source]

Visiting from Indonesia are:

The Secretary General for the Ministry of Justice

The Director General for Corrections plus his Planning and Program Secretary and his Drug Rehab Director for Prisons

The Commanding Officer of the Criminon Training Prison for Indonesia and for Asia.

The Prison Commanders Annual Convention Will Open at the Presidential Palace

Returning to Indonesia on the 18th of April, they will then hold their annual 5-day convention for all prison commanders on April 20th. Prison commanders from all 365 facilities will be attending. It will take place at their Staff Academy outside Jakarta. The opening will be done by the President of Indonesia at his palace.

The Director General for Corrections will be briefing all the prison commanders on the Criminon Program, and so will the Executive Director of Criminon Indonesia and the Prison Commander of the Criminon Training Prison.

Putting The Way to Happiness book into all 365 prisons

The Director General for Corrections wants to start a The Way to Happiness Program in ALL 365 prisons! He has asked for 100 booklets per prison, which is 37,500 booklets.

These 100 booklets will be given to each commander along with a program on what to do with them.

Expanding The Way to Happiness Beyond Rehabilitation to Crime Prevention

Indonesia is the worlds fourth largest country with a population of 240-million people. What the Director General wants is to not only help the prisoners but to also have the rehabilitated prisoners work in the community when they are released and give lectures based on the The Way to Happiness at the schools around each prison. This strategy then expands the program beyond criminal rehabilitation and into an effective crime prevention program, too!
