INDONESIA DEBRIEF BY PRESIDENT CRIMINON INTERNATIONAL
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Wouldn't you like to see the kind of progress noted below happening in the United States? You can help by going to www.criminonwus.org and making a donation. Someday, hopefully, the US government will be as wise as the one in Indonesia in terms of handling the correction of those that break the law. Meanwhile, we depend upon your help to keep our programs going. Executive Director Criminon Western United States |

| Arriving at the Indonesian International Airport after a long 22 hours- yet pleasant flight from LA, President Criminon International, was greeted by several uniformed officers from Immigration and whisked away, bypassing the customs line and into a private office. No, there was nothing wrong; in fact there was everything right with this. These officers were from the Department of Law and Human Rights. Immigration falls under this Department as does Corrections. After having the formalities of a visa granted and luggage collected, he was ushered into a luxury air-conditioned vehicle, with the humidity and heat in Jakarta, air-conditioning is really a godsend-and whisked off in true presidential style by the driver and assigned aide. (My own aide for 5 days..I tried but could not fit her into my suitcase while departing Indonesia 5 days later) Now this is what we talk about when we say government support at the highest level and the appropriate granting of beingness as a government partner and approved service provider! If this was the beginning of the International Conference on Implementing Criminon Program in Indonesia, what did the rest of the week hold in store? The residence for the week was the Training Facility in Jakarta, very upstat buildings where new cadets learn the ropes on how to run a Prison and be an effective and productive staff member. These staff are immaculately turned out in uniform, tailored to perfection and proudly parading the colours and with HUGE big grins to boot. In the Convention Center, huge building with open air ground floor where the ABLE [Association for Better Living and Education] and Department of Corrections Exhibit would be for the entire week for all delegates attending as well as residing cadets to visit. The Exhibit professionally promotes ABLE’s programs, especially Criminon in Indonesia with a whole section set aside for L.Ron Hubbard as well and then a joint section with the Department of Corrections. That first night the Minister of Law and Human Rights’ wife officially cuts the ribbon to open the exhibit and thus the opportunity for all delegates and Indonesian Correctional officers and cadets to visit. |

| Then onto a dinner hosted by the Secretary General of Law and Human Rights, Mr. Hasanuddin where we are all welcomed, well fed and treated to cultural entertainment as well as Karaoke singing by our hosts. It is so pleasant and theta to be sung to by the Ministers wife and the Director General who chose their own tunes and who were absolutely delighted to be singing to us. What an uptone people they are! |

| Day 1 In the Conference center above the Exhibit the hall is packed with delegates and Correctional Officers from the top echelons of Indonesia for the Opening Ceremony. President Criminon International is in private meeting with the Minister and Secretary General of Law and Human Rights and the Director General of Corrections of Indonesia. Now, Indonesia has a population of 230 million. The Minister of Law and Human rights is one of the most powerful men in the country as his portfolio suggests he deals with the powerful issues of law and most importantly Human Rights. A signal then means we will make our way to the Conference Hall for the Opening Ceremony of the 1st International Conference on Implementing Criminon Program in Indonesia. President CN Int is seated at the main table along with the Minister, Secretary General, Director General and Executive Director of Criminon Indonesia for the Ministers speech declaring the Criminon Conference officially “OPEN”! And with that, what rolled out over the next 4 days was nothing but revelation after revelation as the delegates from Indonesia’s neighboring countries learned, listened, observed, questioned and wondered in amazement at the results they saw before them. The day was spent enlightening the delegates on what EXACTLY Criminon was and WHO this man L. Ron Hubbard was and HOW we get the RESULTS we get. So after all the presentations from the Indonesian Government, Criminon Int and Indonesia the delegates were excitedly looking forward to visiting the 1st Criminon Training Center the next day. The evening was spent in the company of the Minister and his wife, at her invitation, at the Jakarta Theatre where we all witnessed a beautiful play recounting the spirit and accomplishments of Indonesia’s forefathers. After such an eventful and landmark day, we retired for the night. |

Day 2 |

| Up @ 5am for breakfast and then a police escorted 4 hour journey -in a Department, but luxury, bus- to the Gintung Prison. We arrive to a full uniformed guard parade and salute as we debunk from the bus. These officers are smartly decked out in their uniforms and the inmates are standing in neat rows alongside the drive way singing traditional welcoming songs (What? In a Prison? You’re kidding me!) as we pull into the front of the prison. There is a big banner neatly and colourfully welcoming all delegates to the Criminon Training Center in Gintung Prison. |

|
Inside the Regional Director, his senior as well as the Head of the Prison warmly welcomes us. We are hosted with tea just inside the prison gates, and it is old but neat and clean. Then we are ushered into the Prison Hall, where the inmates put on a show for us of local songs and then a play on ‘How the Criminon Program saves and changes lives”. This fully scripted acted and produced by the Criminon Graduates. Suffice to say there is not a dry eye among the delegates and HUGE big ARC-ful grins on the faces of the students! Then we tour the prison programs, job skills- woodwork, tailoring, huge agricultural training, making handsewn soccer balls for the Premier League, and many other skills training. Then of course to the Crème de la crème, the 3 course rooms where the Criminon delivery is in full swing! 20 students all in their white and red trimmed Criminon T-shirts all on The Way To Happiness course, which is the 3rd course of their 4 Step Program run in Indonesian Prisons. With their Supervisors keeping a watchful and intent eye on them the students go about their work. The delegates are amazed at the sight of inmates working quietly and intently. Delegates want to know if they can ask questions. Translators are summoned and the common question from the delegates is; How has this program helped you stay off drugs?”. The common answer is, “after doing the TR’s on the Communications Course, I am able to confront and handle the cravings whereas before I couldn’t!” One for one the delegates were amazed at the healthy appearance of the Students as well as their manners and sincerity. |

Day 3. |

The day begins with a meeting in the conference area so all the delegates can relate their experience from yesterday and then begin to put ideas together in each of their groups for their country. Then we are whisked off to lunch @ the Open Prison , no fences. It looks like a country club, very well constructed with lots of rock and a water moat filled with fish running around it. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| No barb wire fences, no guard towers right next door to the Education and Training academy we are staying at. We saw the Criminon students doing there TR 3 drill. Interesting that all the students are on the same drill at the same time. One thing that I was told is that they are put through the program in 1 month, if they are on 8 hours a day, that is 4 courses in 1 month. 1 course a week. If they are on 4 hours a day then it takes them 2 months! The Supping and the drilling we saw was very good , the Sups are very sharp and intent on what they are doing. Again the delegates are full of questions as they wanted to know what the Communication Drills were and how they are done. Well they get a live demonstration and they are even more impressed. After lunch in the Open Prison, police escort takes us in our Luxury Bus to the Cipinang Narcotic Correctional Institution in Jakarta. There we are met with a Guard of Honor again, saluted as we walk in and hosted by the Head of Prison Mr.Wawan. …. …. ... Now, I walk into the Criminon Course Room and there are 40 students in 4 rows doing TR 0!! All in their White Criminon 4 Step Program T-shits, doing great TR 0! 6 Instructors and 2 Senior Instructors are putting them through their paces. Looked impressive beyond belief! ! Great technology delivery here and with so many people in the same room looking at them and asking questions and taking photos it was fantastic - I don’ t know how they never broke their TR's!! Then we visited the yard and went into a Cell Reception area where the inmates are not entrusted to walk around safely yet. Looked more American, less Indonesian. We then went into the quadrangle set up for a concert for us by the Prison band, which was made up of 3 inmates and 2 Correctional Officers. Now this band ROCKED us for 1 hour!! Wow!! Opened up with a song by Guns N Roses (Rock band) and they were good! There was a big banner welcoming the International Conference for Implementing Criminon in Indonesian Prisons’. Some were Criminon graduates, but most weren’t and one could see that. BUT they played great rock and ballads.…… Can you imagine this happening in a US Prison? No way!! So we were thoroughly entertained and joined in the dancing and eventually the quadrangle was crowded with Criminon Graduates and other inmates from the other sections all singing and dancing with the prison officials and our International colleagues! Suffice to say that these delegates, as the Australian one stated, (the police officer) “I am SPUN OUT! This would NEVER happen in our prisons!” She was having a great time!! Eventually we had to leave and Mr. Wawan told me that Criminon is the BEST!! Day 4 This was the wrap up of the Conference. The Director General’s staff and all delegates had submitted their proposals for the way forward in their respective countries. The results of the Conference were that: CRIMINON WORKS; that each country will submit proposals to their Departments for implementation based on the Indonesia 4 Step Module; that they would like another Conference in 6 months time for feedback and further plans on implementation on a Continental scale. The Directorate Generals office and President Criminon International made closing speeches and the Conference was then officially closed. Thus ended 4 days of intense promotion and demonstration by the Indonesian Department of Law & Human Rights with Criminon Indonesia and thus began a whole new reality and purpose for the delegates and for their countries. President Criminon International stated in his closing speech, that this is HOW we set the standards around the world. This is HOW we demonstrate the effectiveness of L. Ron Hubbard's methodology and this is HOW we create a civilization on this earth that we can be proud of. Criminon Indonesia is showing us how to work shoulder to shoulder and side by side with Government in confronting, addressing and handling the problem of criminality and thus bring into being a world without crime! Then it was onto the plane and fly back in time to LA, leaving Friday afternoon, flying for 20 hours and arriving in LA early Friday evening! |
